4. Medical Capability Procedure
Introduction
Here we give an overview of how to address situations where employees have medical issues impacting on their ability to attend work and fully perform in their role.
The procedure provides general guidance on the key areas for consideration and action during the capability process. While general guidance can be given, each situation will have its own facts and circumstances that need to be considered.
It is important to follow a fair and thorough process; therefore, the stages are not limited to the number of meetings or length of time (within reason) in the various stages.
The capability procedure outlined below may be appropriate in any of the following situations:
