6. Documenting Changes

Any changes to the contract of employment / terms of employment must be document. This ensures clarity for both parties and also ensures you get a signed agreement from the employee where necessary. Changes will not always includes issuing a completely new contract, e.g. where there is a one-off change like a pay increase.

These are generally welcomed by the employee. It is however still important to document these changes so that you have a clear record.

In addition, other terms may also be changed when someone is promoted. For example, the employees notice period may be increased. Smaller changes can be documented using a Confirming Change of Terms / Contract Addendum Letter could be used for this.
